QR & Barcode Scanner is operated by ProEffectMedia OÜ, Estonia. This policy describes this Android app, including its scanning, advertising, consent and optional one-time purchase. Contact: [email protected].
Scanning and QR creation
Camera frames and images you select are processed on your device using the bundled Google ML Kit barcode model. The app does not upload camera frames, selected photos, decoded code contents, generated QR contents or scan history to a ProEffectMedia server or to advertising services. Scanning and QR generation can work offline. Google ML Kit can transmit technical usage and diagnostic information, as described below.
The app requests camera access only when you start camera scanning. You can decline it and use image scanning and QR creation. Image selection uses the Android system photo picker or its system fallback. PNG export uses the system file chooser. The app does not request access to your contacts, precise location, SMS, call logs or broad storage.
Local history and your choices
Scanned and created codes, format, date and favorite status are stored in the app's private database on your device. You can delete individual entries or clear all history, including favorites. Recent history is limited to 2,000 entries; old non-favorite entries can be removed automatically. History is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Uninstalling the app removes its private history and settings.
Codes can contain personal details, links or Wi-Fi passwords. They are not sent to another app automatically. You decide whether to copy, save, share, open a website, draft a message, dial a number or insert a contact or calendar event. Sharing or opening sends content to the app or recipient you choose, whose privacy policy then applies. Exported or shared files may remain outside this app after you delete history. Temporary files used for sharing are stored in private cache and older files are cleaned up on later exports or when Android clears cache.
Advertising and Google services
The free app uses Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Ads appear in a static area of Settings and, at a limited frequency, after leaving a reviewed scan result. No scan content is used for ad targeting. Google's advertising SDK may collect and share device IP address (which can indicate approximate location), advertising ID, app set ID and applicable device or account identifiers, app and ad interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. Google uses these for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. This processing can occur even though the app does not request location permission.
The bundled ML Kit SDK can send app version and package, device and OS information, per-installation identifiers, feature configuration, usage events, error codes and performance metrics to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. The app does not enable ML Kit automatic zoom telemetry. We do not integrate a separate Firebase Analytics service, create user accounts or operate a cloud database.
Google SDK transmissions use HTTPS/TLS. Google may process data internationally and retain it under its own applicable policies; we do not set or promise a fixed retention period for Google's data. See Google's Privacy Policy, Google advertising information and ML Kit terms and privacy information.
Consent and privacy settings
Google User Messaging Platform checks applicable consent requirements and displays configured privacy messages where required, including the EEA, UK and Switzerland and applicable US states. Advertising requests are gated on the SDK's consent state. Where required, a Privacy choices entry in Settings lets you reopen the Google privacy options form. Choices and related consent records can be stored by Google and locally. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Declining consent does not prevent scanning or QR creation; the availability of limited ads depends on Google's configuration and applicable rules.
Remove Ads Forever
Remove Ads Forever is an optional non-consumable one-time purchase through Google Play, not a subscription. Google Play processes the payment and handles your payment information; ProEffectMedia does not receive your card details. The app receives product and purchase status, token, signed transaction information and acknowledgement status to verify and restore the entitlement. A verified purchase record is stored privately on the device for offline access, while Google Play is queried again when available. Refunds, cancellations or revocations can remove the entitlement when Google Play reports the updated state. With a verified entitlement, the app does not request or display advertising.
Use Restore purchases with the Google Play account used to buy. Reinstallation restores the purchase from Google Play, rather than from a local unlock flag. Google Play may need an internet connection to verify the purchase or restore it. Purchase records Google retains are subject to Google's policies and legal requirements.
Retention, deletion and rights
You control local history and app settings. Clear history, delete individual entries, clear app data or uninstall to remove local records. There is no ProEffectMedia app account to delete. If you contact us, we process the correspondence to respond and retain it only as needed for that purpose and applicable legal obligations. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us for data handled by ProEffectMedia; Google's privacy controls apply to data Google controls. Withdrawing consent does not invalidate earlier lawful processing.
